Sage has a peppery flavor. They can be used both fresh and dried, even fried. It is used as flavor in fatty meats, cheeses, pork stuffing and vegetable soups. Sage leaves are a popular poultry and meat seasoning.
It needs full sun. Sage is also used by men to reduce hot flashesduring certain treatment for prostate cancercalled androgen deprivation therapy. Tender new sage leaves are more flavorful than older leaves on woody stems, so don't be afraid to harvest.
